Air/Ex 2008 San Diego

I never thought I would want to be part of a plane crash… until last month. In just about 3 hours from now, a simulated plane crash will occur at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field as part of an emergency services event called AirEx. This event will test the Red Cross, on-field and San Diego firefighters, as well as medical first-responders’ reactions to an actual crash at this international airport.

As a participant, I will be assigned one of the following roles:

• Fatality/Zombie
• Minor Injury
• Major Injury
• Non-Injured

but will not know which one until I arrive on-scene.

I’m not going to give too much away pre-event (I have the complete scenario), but will have a wrap-up later today. If you are in the San Diego area, look for this to be on most of the local news stations at noon or local prime-time.
