Blood Flows at Clear Channel (a PLEA to BCA)

OK, OK, we all get it. Buy the station, cut costs, increase profit, service the debt, then pull a 20-share. Those days sure seem like they are gone.

Once again, the evils of multi-station multi-market ownership has shown its razor-sharp accounting claws.

First we had BCA cutting Bill W., Mark L., and Joe T. They actually cut the Bulldog, a talent that (for me at least) goes back to the earlydays of the jim Rome show (1992 if I recall). If that wasn’t a big enough shock, they cut Werndel (can be a pain some days), hired the bottom-of-the-barrel ‘Bleacher Bums’ (come on BCA, are you saving money by having these morons pay YOU to be on the air?), and gutted the stability of schedule that was great for the afternoon drive.

You win, you shocked us all. We can get over it, the stunt worked, now lets get back to work. But, the carnage just had to continue. Bad news loves company, and the speech harmonizing interface terminal must be fed…

I suppose that it was no surprise today to find that Clear Channel dropped the other sweat-stained shoe over at 1360: Ello (gone), Eston (gone), Costa (gone), Dotseth (gone), Rosenberg (gone), along with other non-sports folks at their multi-station cluster here in San Diego.

BCA, NOW is your chance to make good! I don’t have all of the inside details on what happened last year, but NOW is the time to get some of your former folks back into the fold. Grab Chris Ello ASAP. He’s paid his dues AND he’s good!

The same goes for Josh and Craig. It’s been a while, but bring ‘em back.

Please. Don’t let sports radio die in San Diego. You’ll be running LOCAL talent against Fox Sports radio. This should be an easy win for 1090.

Come on…. pull the trigger and get that 20-share this year…. LOCALLY!
